HPBAC Committees

HPBAC Committees

HPBAC’s four standing committees meet regularly and are comprised of members from each region whenever possible as well as staff. If you have any questions or comments or would like to become involved with an HPBAC committee please contact the HPBAC office at 1-800-792-5284 to speak with Laura Litchfield or Michelle Murat.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee plans and develops HPBAC’s communication and public relations strategy. Its function is to provide:

  • Relevant news updates and website content
  • HPBAC Publications and Campaigns
  • Product resources and safety information
  • Content on industry products, events and updates to members

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for developing educational programming and facilitating education and training. They currently work to provide members and the public with:

  • Webinars covering relevant topics within the industry
  • Resources to help members stay informed on important topics
  • Consumer resources on product safety and maintenance
  • Access to programs to expand their industry knowledge and improve their business

Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee is responsible for representing the industry on issues relating to policy and regulation. Currently, they focus on:

  • Developing and maintaining HPBAC’s government relations strategic plan
  • Overseeing the association’s work regarding regulations, codes and standards
  • Creating and fostering relationships with government agencies and other organizations
  • Establishing a presence on all levels of government on relevant topics
  • Monitoring issues and concerns that relate to the Canadian hearth and barbecue industries

Member Services Committee

The Membership Committee is charged with recruiting and engaging members and delivering value to members. Its mission is to:

  • Move members through the onboarding process of Affiliation, Engagement, Involvement and onto Ambassadors
  • Create networking opportunities
  • Establish strong value proposition for members
  • Continue to address and support members’ needs

Finance Committee

The HPBAC Finance Committee is made up of the President, Vice President, Treasurer and the HPBAC Executive Director.

The committee meets quarterly to review detailed Financial Reports and works with staff to produce the draft annual budget which is presented to the Board for approval at its Fall meeting. The committee also makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on the investment of the Association’s reserves.

Board Development Committee

The HPBAC Board Development is responsible for actively recruiting qualified individuals to serve of the Board and/or Standing Committees, developing process for election and removal of directors and officers within the HPBAC Bylaws, and providing ongoing training and succession planning for the volunteers involved within the association.
