Focus on Barbecue

Barbecues are all over the news at this time of year. We’ve selected three articles of interest to feature on our website for members. You can link to them below.

The Canadian BBQ Championships took place July 30-31st in Barrie, Ontario and was covered by the Toronto Star with a two page spread, including the cover of the Food Section. There have been several cases of bristles from barbecue cleaning brushes being picked up on grilled food and swallowed by children. The bristles have then become lodged in the throat. Dr. Paolo Campisi of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children is calling for an industry-wide review of safety standards associated with cleaning barbecue grills and other cooking surfaces.
