Government Relations Report

At the request of the HPABC board of directors Tex McLeod will be working with John Vukanovich to constitute a new Government Relations Committee. There is no shortage of issues facing the proposed committee. These include…
  • Ongoing dialogue with HRAI and NRCan on the EnerGuide for Gas Fireplaces Program
  • Federal regulations governing wood burning appliances
  • Burn Bylaws
  • Validation of CSA B415 as it relates to wood-fired central furnaces and boilers
  • Ongoing dialogue with provincial ministries of energy and environment and utilities

Communications Committee Report

The Communications Committee is continuing to work on updating hpbacanada.org. We're simplifying the structure and creating a Homeowner Section and Trade Section to provide a cleaner and more organized look. We'll also be adding some new content for both consumers and industry members.

The committee is currently investigating Public Relations opportunities to help promote and protect the industry. More news on this will follow as we progress.

We've also begun work on an HPBAC Ambassador Kit that will provide a consistent and clear message for association supporters to use when promoting HPBAC to prospective members. This kit will be presented to the Membership Committee at their September 15th committee meeting for a final review before going into production. Once it has been completed we plan to post it on our web site as well as making a printed version available to members.

Membership Report

The membership committee is continuing its work on a Fall Membership Drive. Once we have the final HPBAC Ambassador Kit we will launch our Road Warrior program. This program involves Distributor and Manufacturer Reps in our efforts to grow the membership of HPBAC. We've been in contact with distributors and manufacturers to gain their support for the program and have received a great response.

Other projects in the works are the ongoing search for affinity programs and other member benefits. The revamped Mystery Shopping program is underway with shopping audits to take place in October.
